PSV travel to Arsenal on Wednesday looking for more than a miracle in the Champions League.

The Gunners annihilated their Dutch last-16 opponents 7-1 in the first leg away from home, just days before drawing with Manchester United in the Premier League.

PSV hit the woodwork in the match and debates rumble on over whether Myles Lewis-Skelly should have seen his third red card of the season in Eindhoven.

Nonetheless, Arsenal are the first team in Champions League history to score seven goals away from home in the competition’s knockout rounds.

It means the atmosphere inside the Emirates Stadium will be completely relaxed for the second leg, with Arteta surely able to use some squad players and save legs for the quarter-finals.

They will face either Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid in the next round, a daunting task.

But there is a record that could be broken on Wednesday evening. Arsenal need to score three goals to become only the second English team to score 10 goals across a two-legged Champions League tie.

PSV fans will still flock to London in large numbers, a testament to their support and loyalty to the club.

But their wait for a first quarter-final appearance since 2007 will go on.

Team news for Arsenal v PSV

Gabriel Martinelli made his return from injury off the bench at the weekend, while Ben White is in line to make his first start of 2025 against PSV.

The likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jorginho, Jakub Kiwior and Kieran Tierney will also fancy their chances of making it into the starting XI with such a comfortable lead.

Arteta still remains without Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

PSV’s injury list is not as significant, but they are without Milik Tillman, Ricardo Pepi and Esmir Bajraktarevic.

Ex-Gunner Lucas Perez is ineligible for the match and will not get a run out against his former club.
