Champions League: PSV Eindhoven v Liverpool

Liverpool will look to maintain their 100 per cent record in the league phase when they visit PSV Eindhoven tomorrow night.

Arne Slot’s men have been able to replicate their strong domestic form in Europe and have been victorious on all seven match days thus far.

Only a defeat at the Philips Stadion, coupled with a win for Barcelona at home to Atalanta and a sizeable goal swing, could prevent the Merseysiders from finishing top of the table and securing the top seed in the round of 16.

Liverpool might not have been at their swashbuckling best in recent games but still head to the Netherlands having won their last three in all competitions, against Brentford, Lille and Ipswich.

PSV are all but assured of a place in the playoffs but they will look to claim a sizeable scalp in the Premier League leaders.

Peter Bosz’s side also head their domestic league, sitting top with a four-point lead over Ajax following a 3-2 win over NAC Breda at the weekend.

With little to play for Slot has made several changes to his usual squad with the emphasis very much on youth.

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah will all remain in England and get some much-needed rest ahead of the league game with high-flying Bournemouth at the weekend.

Konate and Mac Allister were always unlikely to play given they are one booking away from a European suspension.

Joe Gomez has returned to training but tomorrow’s game comes too soon.
