Dembele brings French giants level on aggregate

Ousmane Dembele continued his remarkable start to 2025 with another goal as Paris Saint-Germain struck first at Anfield against Liverpool.
The France winger started and finished a swift counter attack after 12 minutes to prod Luis Enrique’s men in front after the home side had dominated the opening stages in front of a raucous Merseyside crowd.
Liverpool were totally overwhelmed at the Parc des Princes last week but somehow emerged with a 1-0 first-leg advantage.
This time it was roles reversed as PSG rode their luck as the home side swarmed forward.
Arne Slot’s men could have gone in front as early as the fourth minute. Dominik Szobozslai picked out Alexis Mac Allister and his square pass seemed perfect for Mohamed Salah to finish off but the Egyptian’s shot struck Nuno Mendes and flashed over the bar.
Salah then placed a shot a yard wide and Virgil van Dijk saw a header from a Mac Allister cross blocked near the line as the pressure continued.
Dembele stuns Anfield as Paris Saint-Germain take the lead
Out of nowhere – very much like Liverpool did last week – PSG scored.
Dembele led a swift break from just inside his own half before sliding in Bradley Barcola down the right. Barcola’s cross was pushed past Alisson by the outstretched leg of Ibrahima Konate and Dembele was on hand to tap home his 21st goal in 2025.

Konate almost made amends immediately with a 25-yard shot that brought a smart, diving stop from Gianluigi Donnarumma before PSG nearly doubled their advantage.
This time it was Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who led the break before slipping in Barcola but his effort was smothered by the advancing Alisson.
