Lineups, team news, confirmed starting teams as Gundogan, Marmoush start

Brighton & Hove Albion head to Manchester City on Saturday (3pm GMT) knowing that victory would send them above the hosts into fifth in the Premier League.

The reigning champions lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest last Saturday but have never been beaten at home by Brighton in any division.

City have already lost nine times in the top flight in 2024/25, though, and another would make it the most defeats that manager Pep Guardiola has suffered in a league season.

Manchester City lineup v Brighton

City have been without key midfielder Rodri for most of the season and the midfielder remains out, as do defenders John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake.

Rico Lewis comes in at full-back, as do midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and forward Omar Marmoush. Ederson is not fully fit, so Stefan Ortega is in goal.

Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Mathues Nunes are the players to drop to the bench, where Scott Carson is the back-up goalkeeper.

Brighton lineup v Man City

Brighton centre-back and captain Lewis Dunk remains out with a rib injury, so Adam Webster continues to deputise in both roles.

Manager Fabian Hurzeler makes one change from the starting side in the 2-1 home win over Fulham last Saturday, replacing Yasin Ayari with new signing Diego Gomez in midfield.
