Aston Villa will be hoping to improve on a run of league results that has seen them pick up just one win in seven Premier League games when they travel to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

Villa’s form has stuttered in the league in recent weeks but Unai Emery’s men will be buoyed by an impressive 3-1 victory against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday night to put themselves in a strong position to advance to the last eight.

Emery’s side are also still in the FA Cup but their poor league return of late threatens to see them miss out on European football completely next season. They arrive at Brentford in 10th place.

Brentford, meanwhile, have lost just one of their last five, winning three. Thomas Frank’s side have been involved in several high-scoring affairs at home this term.

Despite sitting in 11th place, the Bees are the league’s sixth highest scorers with 48 goals.

Here is the team news for what promises to be an intriguing clash.

Brentford team news

The hosts will be boosted by the return of Mathias Jensen, who missed the previous two games with an adductor injury, and Christian Norgaard, who missed  the 1-1 draw with Everton with concussion.

Norgaard starts while Jensen makes the bench. However, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva, Gustavo Nunes, Igor Thiago and Sepp van den Berg remain absent for Frank’s side.

Aston Villa team news

The big team news for the visitors is the absence of goalkeeper Emi Martinez and in-form Marco Asensio, who are both sidelined due to injury.

Robin Olsen starts in goal, while Emery names a forward line of Leon Bailey, Morgan Rogers and Jacob Ramsey behind Ollie Watkins.
