Ronaldo scores in frustrating draw for 10-man Al-Alami

Al-Nassr and Al-Shabab played out a dramatic 2-2 draw in Riyadh, with both teams making up an eventful clash that saw goals, a red card, and VAR drama.

The visitors struck first in the 44th minute when Abderrazzaq Hamdallah converted a penalty, putting Al-Shabab ahead. The penalty was awarded after Daniel Podence was brought down in the box by Nawaf Al-Boushail.

However, Al-Nassr responded almost immediately. Just before half-time, Ayman Yahya found the back of the net with a well-placed left-footed shot following a set-piece, leveling the score at 1-1.

The home side’s momentum continued into added time when Cristiano Ronaldo produced a moment of magic, striking from a difficult angle to put Al-Nassr 2-1 ahead.

The goal initially faced scrutiny from VAR but was ultimately awarded, giving Al-Nassr the advantage heading into the break.

The second half started with Al-Shabab eager to find an equaliser. Al-Nassr found themselves in trouble in the 52nd minute when Mohammed Al Fatil was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge, leaving the hosts with ten men.

The numerical disadvantage eventually took its toll, and in the 67th minute, Mohammed Al Shwirekh capitalised on a well-delivered cross from Cristian Guanca, heading home to make it 2-2.

The final stages of the match were filled with end-to-end action, as both teams sought a late winner.

Al-Shabab pressed forward, forcing crucial saves from Al-Nassr’s goalkeeper Bento, while Marcelo Brozovic and Jhon Duran had opportunities to restore the lead for the home side.

Tensions ran high in the closing minutes, with multiple yellow cards issued, including one for Al-Shabab’s Wesley Hoedt and Al-Nassr’s Jhon Duran.

After eight minutes of stoppage time, the referee brought an end to an electrifying encounter in Saudi Arabia.

While Al-Nassr may feel frustrated after surrendering a lead, a draw reflected a fair result.
