Spanish sides have dominated the competition since it was rebranded from the UEFA Cup to the Europa League in 2009, with La Liga clubs triumphing in nine out of 15 years.

Five of those victories have come for Sevilla and three for Atletico Madrid, while Villarreal, Chelsea, Porto, Manchester United and Eintracht Frankfurt have also lifted the trophy during that period.

The 2025 Europa League final will take place on Wednesday, May 21 at 20:00 GMT.

The Europa League final will be shown live on TNT Sports, with channels and coverage start times yet to be confirmed as of March 26.

Where is the Europa League final 2025?

Athletic Bilbao may feel added incentive to reach the final because it will be played at their San Mames Stadium home.

The Lions moved there in 2013. Their previous stadium staged the second leg of the final in 1977, when Bilbao beat Juve 2-1 but lost on away goals.

Europa League schedule: Semi-final dates 2025

Rangers or Athletic Bilbao will meet Lyon or Manchester United in this season’s semi-finals, while Tottenham or Eintracht Frankfurt will play Bodo/Glimt or Lazio for a place in the final.

The first legs of those ties will take place on May 1, with the second legs on May 8.
